I started crocheting about six years ago. I had just gotten married and moved across the country. I was lonely and bored and craved something that was my own.
I picked up crochet because I needed a hobby, and it seemed like a cheap option to try out. If I found I didn’t like it or I couldn’t figure it out, I hadn’t wasted too much money on it.
I started by making stuffed animals. For an adult woman, I have an unhealthy obsession with stuffed animals. My house is full of them. Granted, I have children, but I think I get/make stuffed animals more for me than for them.
I found that I really loved crochet. I was good at it. It was forgiving of my mistakes. And it satisfied that craving within me to create. Up until this point, I wasn’t sure I had any talents or skills!
So I clung to crochet. I learned as much as I could. And when I had finished one project I moved on to the next. Now, years later, my house is filled with things I’ve made.
I have been so grateful for all the blogs, videos, and tutorials that helped me learn how to crochet and start a hobby that I have loved so much. I’m also especially grateful for free patterns!
I want to pass on that goodness by offering another way for would-be crafters to learn this skill and by offering my own free patterns. If you haven’t tried crochet, I highly recommend it! I think you’ll love it too!
