Is there anything better than cute Halloween decorations?? Yes! Cute, DURABLE Halloween decorations – ones that won’t break in a move and you don’t have to keep out of reach of little ones. Start your durable collection with my free crochet ghosts pattern.
Pattern Notes
This pattern is made up of three ghosts – big, medium, and small. They’re all made using continuous rounds. Using medium weight yarn and a size 4 crochet hook, the big ghost measures 7 inches tall, the medium ghost measures 5.5 inches tall, and the small ghost measures 4.5 inches tall.
You could play around with yarn and hook size to get bigger or smaller ghosts. How firmly you stuff them will also impact the over al height. I like to stuff mine firmly!
I made the faces for the ghosts using safety eyes and black fabric paint. You could also embroider faces using black yarn or cut and glue black felt.

Crochet Ghosts Pattern
All three ghosts consist of a body, two arms, and a fringe around the bottom. The arms and the fringe are the same for all three ghosts.
I used black fabric paint to add the face details onto the ghosts. You could also embroider them or use felt. Feel free to copy what I did for the ghosts faces or mix it up!

Arms
With white yarn, create a magic ring.
Round 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
Rounds 2-5: sc around (6)
Fasten off leaving a tail for attaching.
Fringe
Attach the yarn to any of the exposed front loops of the round that was worked in BLO. For the big ghost that was round 37, for the medium ghost that was round 31, and for the small ghost that was round 25.
Slst, skip a loop, 5 dc in the next loop, skip a stitch loop. This creates one shell.
[skip a loop, 5 dc in next loop, skip a loop, slst] repeat all the way around the ghost to create shells all along the bottom
Place your last slst in the loop you started in. Fasten off and hide the end.
Now that you’ve completed the free crochet ghosts pattern, use them to decorate for Halloween! Or let your kids play with them. That’s what usually ends up happening with my decorations!
Happy Halloween!
