Usually when you are decreasing, you do it with single crochet. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to decrease with half double crochet. You may see that abbreviated as hdc dec.
Half Double Crochet Decrease Instructions
- Before inserting your hook into your work, yarn over.
- Insert your hook into the first stitch or chain you are decreasing into. Yarn over and pull through your work. You now have three loops on your hook.
- Insert your hook into the second stitch or chain you are decreasing into. Yarn over and pull through your work. You know have four loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull it through all four loops on your hook.
